While many architectural awards present winners with diplomas and prizes, only one offers a direct path to historical legacy. On February 11, the call for entries begins for the 9th Golden Trezzini Awards—a unique global project where contemporary architects, designers, restorers, and students compete for the right to turn their ideas into museum exhibits. It is the only award in the world where winning projects are added to a state museum collection. The winners' works become part of the permanent collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg and are exhibited annually at the Architecture as Art showcase in the heart of the city, the Peter and Paul Fortress.
The awards have long evolved into an international platform for architectural diplomacy. Projects are evaluated by an expert council representing leading specialists, diplomats, and cultural figures from 35 countries. The Chairman of the International Council is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the Worldwide St Petersburg Club and General director of the State Hermitage Museum.
The awards are organized by the Worldwide St Petersburg Club. The awards are supported by major institutions ranging from the State Hermitage Museum and the State Russian Museum to the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. The competition is built on principles of maximum transparency and fair play: participation is always free, and the voting results of the international jury undergo an independent audit.
The Gala Ceremony will take place on November 20, 2026, at the State Hermitage Museum. Winners will receive gilded statuettes of Domenico Trezzini, the first architect of St. Petersburg, handcrafted by the masters of the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory.
Since its inception, the awards has received over 6,400 entries from 114 countries.
